- I am obtaining my secondary
teaching certification through Pima's Post-Baccalaureate Teacher
Certification Program and hope to begin my career soon. I am
grateful for the leadership and growth opportunities open to me
as a part of a wonderful organization like Phi Theta Kappa,
and I find amazing the accomplishments of our chapter and the good we
do in our community. I learn constantly from the diverse talents,
drive and dedication of our members, officers, and advisors.
"Leadership should be born out of the
understanding of the needs of those who would be affected by it."
- Marian Anderson
Never

world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has"

I'm
a Tucson native taking courses for transfer to the University of Arizona in
pursuit of degrees in Aerospace Engineering and English (leading to
graduate level study in Comparative Literature). I am also studying both
German and Spanish. My hobbies include reading and writing, travel, hiking,
cooking, and sewing.
I feel privileged to be working with such a brilliant
and dedicated group as the Alpha Beta Chi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. This
will be a wonderful and productive year.
"Manchmal sieht unser
Schicksal aus wie ein Fruchtbaum im Winter. Wer sollte bei dem traurigen
Ansehn desselben wohl denken, daß diese starren Äste, diese zackigen Zweige
im nächsten Frühjahr wieder grünen, blühen, sodann Früchte tragen könnten;
doch wir hoffen's, wir wissen's."

- My husband's
decision to change careers became a major turning point in my life. My
husband's new job took him out of town frequently, so in an effort to
combat the boredom, I decided on a whim to take a couple of classes. I
found out that I enjoyed it and continued. I am now at the half-way point
in receiving an Associates Degree in Computer Programming.

VP of Finance: Jennifer Risch
- I am a wife and
mother of two beautiful children. My main goal is being a good mother
to them, but as they become more independent my hope is that I will
too. My educational goals are to get a Certificate for Direct
Employment in Accounting, an Associate of Applied Science in Business, an
Associate for Transfer in Liberal Arts, a Bachelor's in History and a
Master's in Religious Art. I hope to one day own my own business
selling art and artifacts from around the world.

in common hours."

"Do
what you can, with what you have, where you are."
-I am Russian and
came to America from a Country called Belarus ( formally part of the Soviet
Union). Although I received an Associate's Degree with Honors in
Business from Russia, the Degree is not transferable to a University here
in the United States. In light of this, I have come to Pima Community
College in hopes to complete the necessary courses in order to transfer to
the University of Arizona and pursue my Bachelor's Degree in Business and
MIS. I am married and have a beautiful baby boy.

Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

Arizona Regional VP, Southern District:
Natasha Stephens
Hi Ya’ll!! I am your 2009-2010, Regional Vice President for the
Southern District of Arizona. I served as the Vice President of Public
Relations, 2008-2009 for the Alpha Beta Chi Chapter at Pima Community
College in Tucson, AZ. I am currently majoring in Liberal Arts and plan
to graduate in May, 2010. I grew up in Northeast Alabama; however, in
the last ten years I have resided in eight different states. I love
traveling and meeting new people! Becoming a member of Phi Theta Kappa
has been one of the most amazing and rewarding experiences in my life.
It has helped me grow immensely as an individual, encouraged me to
strive for excellence in everything I do, and has been the key to
opening many doorways into my present and future.
Leadership can be thought of as a capacity to define oneself to others
in a way that clarifies and expands a vision of the future."
