A regular faculty member at East Campus, Mike Stack has established a visual presence on campus. His Sculpture-On-Campus program, featuring rotating outdoor works by area artists, has transformed the campus into an outdoor art museum.
He was nominated for an Employee Recognition Award for his work on the sculpture program, as well as his support of students. “He provides a stimulating atmosphere for his students and has a unique way of presenting his course material that gets the whole class involved,” his EC colleagues wrote when nominating Stack.
Stack teaches all core art classes at EC, where he has found a supportive, enthusiastic environment. “It doesn’t matter what discipline you’re in,” Stack said. “Everyone’s always making connections between disciplines. That’s been fantastic.”
“The general enthusiasm for the projects I’ve been doing is incredible. They wouldn’t have happened without a lot of other people: staff, administrators, faculty and students,” he added.
Stack earned a four-year certificate from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and a bachelor’s in fine arts from the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his master’s in painting at the State University of New York at Purchase.
